Dear Zindagi..A soul-scorching,heart-stirring and mind-grinding movie.

Love You Zindagi
Another Bollywood movie engaging life and its many facets. Though Bollywood has stood a testimony to many such praise your life kinda movies in the past this one makes a difference. It teaches you to sing paeans to your life, eulogise it and enjoy every bit of it even at your utmost destitute. It teaches you to be You. Most importantly it teaches you to get over the things that once mattered you the most to get going for a better beautiful life.
This I can say is a more globalised and liberalised version of 1990 classic Thodasa Roomani Ho Jaayen. A brilliant concept and a brilliant execution on celluloid.

If having a sense of self-worth is arrogance then be it. That's how Alia's character Kaira is personified. And Ya..why not? She lives her life to her terms defying the very conventional ideology of the society and its freebooters. But then life is not always a bed full of roses. Kaira goes through an emotionally troubled phase. Fighting her own fears with fear in her heart. Love, Lust and Lost. She is at crossroads. Confused over her broken relationships she loses faith in love and commitment.

Here comes to the rescue the eponymous Dr. Jehangir Khan, a Psychologist. And who better could have nailed the character with such an ease than the man himself..the live wire Shah Rukh Khan.

I was moved by the climax scene personally. Though the movie is a slice of life throughout, the ending struck a chord with me.  It is when Kiara professes her love for Dr. Khan. But Dr. Khan politely averts it. Though Dr. Khan is tough, matured and determined , he too slips a bit and develops a soft corner for Kaira which is emblematically shown in the scene where he sits in the chair and it creaks a little. Normally the chair does not creak while Dr. Khan gets on it. It only creaks for the people who come for their mental aid. But it happens with him. He smiles and nods his head in acceptance of his failure to accept Kaira's proposal. Kaira hugs him and steps out of his house.
Perhaps Dr.Khan knew his limitations. He can not be in a relationship. He is supposed to mentor and give hope to hopeless. He knew the consequences of the long sessions between him and Kaira. This has happened with him many a time. But he just can not cross the boundary. He understands that a person can fall in love umpteen number times. He knows Kaira will find someone someday and life will again be beautiful for her. It is just a matter of time. Even in the same scene it is shown that Shah Rukh aka Dr. Khan puts an eye drop in to his eyes in the middle of the conversation. It is too because SRK is quite sure he may not be able to hide his emotion to Alia. So in the pretext of the eye drop he is kind of trying to hide his tears that is welling up in his eyes.

He has developed a liking for Alia but he just can not be in Love.

Ironic though but yes, most of us go through this phase.

Dear Zindagi. It is a true neo-noir film in terms of love, emotion, drama and life.
