Lets make It Big this time...
Long ago Nehru had awakened the repressed India to a new
beginning with one of his most memorable and raved speeches..the line which
depicts his quintessential eye poppers “ At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the
world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom…”.Yes..It was a proud
moment. But little did Nehru know that the new india he was talking about is
going to be cited as one of the most corrupted, poverty laden countries in
coming years.I think No.
“It is fitting that at this
solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her
people and to the still larger cause of humanity.” This line shows how Nehru
had visualized the INDEPENDENT INDIA.
So what went wrong?
Here I remember Winston Churchil once quoting on the pretext
of India’s independence “Power will go to the hands of
rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low caliber
and men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will
fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political
squabbles. A day would come when even air and water would be taxed
in India..” Sorry to say.But somewhere I feel that Churchil had a
well foresight. Nehru perhaps forgot the solar system architecture while
addressing the masses on the context of India’s Independence. The world was not sleeping. They were just awake
on the other side of the orbit.Perhaps they knew the future of India and
sporadically they witnessed the democratic India being metamorphosed into
rather demon-autocratic India.
No 2nd
opinion on India’s emergence as one of the most sought after countries for
global investment, economic interactions between world’s most well developed
countries. Now India is 2nd to china for global market
investment. Most of its cities are IT hubs now.Indians are the largest
immigrants to westen countries.Yes,We have developed.
1991 year was a significant year in India’s political
history. This year gave India what India craved for year long.Globalization and
Liberalization.India was exposed to Outer world.Yes,It was indeed a good step.
But still there are loopholes that hinders India to come out
of its some crucial internal issues.More than 80% of India’s population are
comprised of Middle class or below poverty line and It is very disheartening to
see that though India is cruising towards being a well developed, well equipped
country, these have very minimal effect
on the day to day life of the common man of this country. Either poor
governance,or poor judicial system or regional conflicts in the name of caste
or religion it is always the common man who is always affected. And now
situation has worsened as the common man has adjusted to the flaws and learnt
to live with it. It is really sad that ‘The common man’ the most acclaimed
character of R.K Laxman’s Cartoon series is still the subject of concern.
”India will never
change. We will have to go by this corrupt system. Here the rich will get richer
and the poor will be always crushed by the System and always be a victim of its
injustice.”. This has been mindset of our young generation who in turn want to
settle abroad and don’t even want to think of their motherland. Is this what we
had dreamt of??Why not instead of settling abroad we try to bring change in our
system. Why not make our India “The incredible India “ as it is showcased ..so
that it not only becomes a tourist destination but a livelihood one for foreign citizens.
This is a humble request to all the parties and its members who are fighting over the years for power and always involved in unnecessary squabbles to bury their hatchet and who ever forms the
government this next loksabha election please think of India’s heritage, its
history and its resources and bring some respite to the sufferings of Bharat
Maa and her children. Please be the change and bring change.
